Visual storytelling

This is an example of visual communication. The data is conveyed through logos, colours, patterns, pictures, and so on, that is sensually and emotionally evocative. There is a rich sense of texture brought about by the different materials used to compose this picture – dry, raspy leaves, the rough sinewy bark and the smoothness of processed paper. The materials are all paper-related, apt for an info-graphic about the breakdown of how paper is used in the US in 2000. The colours are a mix of warm orange-brown tones – organic colours. Effective visual communication is important to any art form. The visuals should tell a story, and carry the narrative.
