Leap Motion gesture based technology interface

Technology watchers are saying that gesture based technology ala Minority Report will be the next big thing after the touchscreen. A lot of eyes are looking at the Leap Motion controller which only costs USD70 and can track the user’s hand movements to a hundredth of a millimeter. Check out the Youtube video seen by millions.

This product could really do well because it mimics our natural bodily actions in everyday life. Our body is the site of embodied interaction and knowledge. 3D movement in space using our hands is a more realistic and intuitive way of interacting with technology as opposed to a 2D touchscreen. There are also more possibilities for applications involving 3D actions. The future looks bright for the Leap Motion.
