Description:
February 2016
This is a media artwork installation for the inaugural Betwixt digital arts festival held at the Art Science Museum on Feb 2016.
One’s childhood and adolescence contain many defining moments and memories that shape who we are – a mentor or loving grandparent, a teenage crush, a passion or hobby, a favourite place or food etc. This artwork attempts to create a mosaic of impressions of growing up in Singapore by asking the audience to contribute their memories.
The outward form is that of a peephole, bringing to mind the childhood joy of peering through an optical toy such as a kaleidoscope or zoetrope. The image viewed through the lens is distorted, symbolising the ambiguity of psychological perception coloured by the passage of time. The narrative is constructed as a list of Twitter tweets from the audience.
