Pendulum light

Description:

Jan 2020

A light that moves like a pendulum built with wood and hobby electronics. This was a collaboration between ethical wood crafters Roger & Sons and myself. The pendulum lights were installed as part of an art exhibition “Railtrack Songmaps Roosting Post 2” showing at the Jendela gallery of the Esplanade, Singapore. The lights were used to create the effect of moving “puppetry” shadows from the hanging assemblages.

We used a standard nema 14 stepper motor and an Arduino microcontroller that controls the speed via a knob. A fishing weight was used as a counterweight to smoothen and ease the movement of the pendulum arm.
